Mountain Wind Zen Meditation (MWZM) was founded in 1996 by Venerable Shih Ying-Fa. MWZM meets at Temple Emmanuel in Mount Lebanon, PA on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. to practice authentic Ch'an meditation. Wednesday service includes meditation instruction, walking meditation, evening chanting, one-on-one interviews with Shih Ying-Fa, and a Dharma talk presented by either Shih Ying-Fa or Shih Tao-Fa, Resident Instructor.
In addition to the weekly sessions, MWZM offers one day retreats called "Days of Zen" in the Fall and Spring, an annual weekend Intensive Retreat, Introduction to Buddhism Classes, as well as other talks, ceremonies, and retreats.
Resident Instructor: Ven. Shih Tao-Fa
Mountain Wind's Resident Instructor was ordained as a Shramanera in 2005 and took the 250 Vows of the Fully Ordained in late 2008. In addition, Shih Tao-Fa is the founder and director of Still Mountain T'ai Chi and has studied with a number of renowned T'ai Chi masters including Grandmaster Daniel Lee, Grandmaster William C. C. Chen, Master Helen Wu, Grandmaster Dr. Yang, and others. He has published articles on T'ai Chi, Buddhism, and Taoism in various journals and books. Shih Tao-Fa is currently writing The Bliss of Now: Integrating Living, Working, and Being, which includes discussions of meditation and Chi Kung exercises and draws upon his experience as an ordained Ch'an Buddhist Monk.
